Huawei Mate 30 Pro is yet to release, but the phone has already fallen under the crosshairs of former Huawei users. The ‘Gluegate’ problem has led to several mobile screen repairs of Huawei Mate 20 Pro, where a noticeable green glow overlays the curvy corners of the phone. It’s believed that the glue used to fix the phone together is causing the issue, hence the name.

Being the successor of the 2018 phone, Mate 30 Pro could show signs of Gluegate since it’s based on the same curvy design featuring a 6.71-inch Super AMOLED display. It’s also created possibly by the same screen manufacturer - LG.

Currently, Huawei has not provided a standard resolution for issue, except for screen replacement. A spokesperson addressed the issue hinted the discoloration as a side effect of the special design curved edges that provide enhanced visual experience and holding comfort.

He explained, “In extremely dim lighting conditions, when the screen brightness is too low, or when using dark wallpapers, these differences can be exaggerated. If the color cast affects your normal use, take your phone to an authorized Customer service Center for assistance.”

As for the question, the chances of the green issue persisting post screen repair are high if the replaced screen is from LG. A forum user reported a mobile screen repair done using a BOE replacement. The display unit from BOE lacked the green overlay in an extremely dark environment.

A high refresh rate of 90Hz will make Huawei Mate 30 Pro displays extremely pleasant and smooth to look at. Huawei Mate 30 Pro is expected to be backed by Kirin 985 processor and a 4,200mAh battery. This phone is anticipated to be released in October.

Huawei Mate 30 Pro will brandish a triple camera arrangement of 40MP + 40MP + 8MP, including ultra-wide-angle lens with a 120-degree field of view. With such high camera capabilities and hardware features, Huawei Mate 30 Pro will surely rule the market if it permanently remedies Gluegate and rids customers of the costly mobile screen repair headache.
